There is no emphasis on aesthetics for the Three Gorges Dam. This dam was built to be the largest (by volume) dam in the world and to produce the most energy by landmark production capabilities. The entire project is designed to be functional, safe, and environmentally friendly. Not pretty looking. The aesthetic quality comes from the sheer sight of the dam because it is so large and powerful. There is no artistic design, no architectural decoration, although the pattern of the dam structure and flow of water might be pleasing to the eye simply because of it’s magnificence.
